r·khives / är' kīvz' / n. A series of honeycombs in sterling silver, embodiments of memories of my mom, her interest in bees and the architectural beauty of their elegantly crafted structures. Each piece is unique.
about me
I started in silver after a long time working in large scale steel and bronze. I take inspiration in the delicate and transient forms in nature, and silver lends itself to the recreation of these small scale, beautiful, natural sculptures.
my silver work began mostly as a means to create gifts for friends and family. Typically, as most gifts are, the pieces were tailored to a special place or interest of the recipient. I received enough positive responses to the individual pieces that I have started creating series of pieces. Currently the honeycombs are my main focus, inspired by my Mom's interest in bees.
